A minister’s parliamentary record does not look like a back-bencher’s. Ministers represent the government in the House. They answer questions instead of asking them, lay papers on behalf of their ministry, and make statements on committee reports. They do not sign the attendance register, ask questions or introduce private member’s bills — so the standard counts for those are recorded as nil, which is a fact about the office and not about the person.

This page therefore does two things. For the Rajya Sabha years of 2016–2022, when he was not a minister, it reproduces the published participation figures. For the Lok Sabha years since 2024, it lists individually documented parliamentary actions, each with a date and a source. No aggregate count of questions, debates or interventions is asserted for the current term, because no such figure exists in a verifiable form.

Written reply on coverage under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana

In a written reply, the Minister of State stated that about 10 crore 33 lakh deposit-free LPG connections had been released to beneficiaries under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana; that the scheme was launched in 2016 to provide deposit-free connections to women from poor households; that the Government had recently approved the release of 25 lakh additional connections during 2025-26; and that the scheme had resulted in a shift away from burning solid fuels such as wood, dung and crop residue for cooking.
